Late Night With a Sick One

Last night was one of those nights that every parent knows, but never likes to think about. I put Scotty down a little later than usual because I had been VT'ing and didn't want to bother the sitter with putting him down. I expected him to go right down b/c of the time, but instead he cried and cried and cried for about an hour and a half. I would periodically go in, try to calm him, let him drink some milk, hold him, rock him, everything I could think of, but to no avail. When Scott finally got home from his softball game at about 11pm, he had a go at it.

We still couldn't figure out what was wrong, so we took turn rocking him, letting him sleep in our arms for a few minutes at a time and just holding him. Scott gave him a blessing at about 3:30 and at 4am he finally fell asleep for good.

We took him to the doctor today and found out he had an ear infection, so laying down hurt his ears... poor little guy!

Here is Dad holding the little guy...

Holding up Scotty's head, a sign that he might really be out.

Dad is happy 'cause his boy is finally falling asleep... now he might get some sleep as well.

And now it is Dad's turn... for a few minutes anway.
