After hearing that Beka potty trained Joseph at two in just a few days, I thought to myself "I wonder...". So I took Scotty to the store to buy some underwear. He chose Elmo, of course. While still in the store, Scotty got so excited to see Elmo that he took the underwear out of the package, squealed, laughed and then put them on his head. I love that kid.
So we tried it a day or so later. Yeah, didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Although he loves wearing the Elmo underwear, he doesn't really mind sitting in wet pants. I have decided that needs to be a concern of the child in order for this whole thing to work. So, every once in a while he puts the underwear on, Scotty has fun pointing at Elmo, and I get to see how cute he looks in "big boy underwear" - it's a win-win, for now. I guess we'll just cross that bridge when we get there, I'm really in no hurry to get there right now.

Yesterday I was sitting in at the Treet waiting for our food, talking to Scotty and helping him not to get too impatient (ironic, I know!). I was asking him him things like, "Where is Uncle Joe?, where is Janey?, where is the snow?, where is your nose?" He would point to and say the appropriate name for each. Then I asked, "Scotty, where is your elbow?" At which point he yells "Elmo!!" and points to his crotch. Maybe the Elmo underwear wasn't such a great idea after all.
