Our Big Interview

I can hardly believe that we are almost to the middle of this semester already. Scott's seminary teaching has been going so well. Not only, according to his boss, is he becoming a better and better teacher, but I feel like he has really grown spiritually this past year. People talk about "occupational hazards" like coal miners have problems with their lungs and doctors working long hours, I love that the big hazard we have had is that he is studying his scriptures a lot more often. I don't think that this teaching opportunity could have come at a better time in our lives either. With both of us becoming and learning to be parents and not just husband and wife, it helps to keep us focusing on the Lord when he is constantly thinking about and often talking and discussing with me how he can help his students understand and apply different principles from the scriptures. I find myself analyzing my own life and how I am applying principles of the gospel to my life.

Anyway, yesterday we were interviewed by Elder Douglas L. Callister of the Seventy (above). That was such a great experience for both Scott and I. I was pretty nervous at first, but as the interview got started, the nerves went away and we were both just excited to be speaking with him. He asked us both a bunch of questions, lots of "get to know you" and testimony questions. Toward the end he asked me if Scott is a good father, and if he loves me, and if he tells me he loves me... these are all questions you should not ask a woman who is 9 months pregnant!! Of course I teared up!! I tried to express to him, in the least teary/squeaky (from the tears) voice that I could, what an amazing father Scott is and how much he honors not only his calling as a father, but mine as a mother and how much he loves - me more than I know - and how he shows that love on an hourly basis... it was really a pathetic sight! Again, those are questions that should never be asked to a woman that is 9 months pregnant!!
When all is said and done, of course I hope Scott gets hired, but I won't be mad if he doesn't. This has been such an amazing experience, to learn and grow with Scott. We have learned so many things together this past year. I am just grateful that we had the chance to do it.
