How We Met

Scott and I met at Targhee Ski Resort in Driggs, Idaho in beginning of January 2005. We were both there for the $5 ski day. Itsy's boyfriend at the time, Chris Foster, was friends with Scott and happened to run into him on the hill. Scott was on a date with another girl (although he denies that it was a date... sure!), and I was there with my brother in law, Mikey - who Scott thought was my husband because of the introduction given. Needless to say, except for him giving me a few skiing pointers, Scott and I didn't talk a lot that first day, although I thought he was so dang handsome and definitely wanted to!!

During the next few weeks I asked Chris to set Scott and I up on a date, but he never did. As it turns out, Chris though Scott wouldn't "go for" me (little did he know!!). Scott and I saw each other at random times and places over the next few months. I guess after seeing me over and over, he thought he should do something about it, because Scott then asked Chris for my number and to go on a double date with Itsy and I.

We went to the Holt Arena and saw the Bar-J-Wranglers from Jackson Hole perform. Scott and I ended up talking the whole time, which really annoyed Itsy and Chris (they moved a few rows away), but I wasn't about to be quiet when this gorgeous man was asking me questions. The whole date was wonderful!! Scott asked me out for another date a few days later and we were together daily after that.

I guess that's not entirely true, he did leave to go on a previously planned vacation with Dennis and Jen Barlow and Jen Hair (Crane at the time),which he still gets teased from my side of the family about to this day! He left for Machu Pichu, Peru and Mexico City, Mexico. I remember he couldn't call for the two weeks he was gone and I was going insane!! When he finally called from the airport in California coming home I was ecstatic, and a little relieved that he was still wanting to call (we hadn't been dating for that long and not talking for 2 weeks was killing me!) When he finally got home, he was pretty sick. I guess while he was in Mexico City, he had a snow cone... bad idea. I will just say that the water wasn't quite up to his stomach's standards. So the first few days back I heard, smelled and saw things I really wished I hadn't.

Scott and I dated for another year before he proposed the next summer. I was working in Jackson Hole, WY for the summer, while Scott stayed in Pocatello to run Tastee Treet. We would each take turns driving back and forth to see each other, I think I spent most of the money I made on fuel.
